DAYS OF THE WEEK - THE PLANETS, TAROT AND RUNES

Which is the best day for your outing, event, regular meeting or celebration?

 

This article outlines  The Seven Days and how they were Named.  The associated Anglo-Saxon or Norse Rune and what each day is best for.  

 SUNDAY - The Sun

Named after the Sun, a symbol of creation, life and renewal.

Tarot Link - The Sun

Rune:  SOWELU   (So-way-loo) Sun

The Summer Solstice.  A Lion. Vital force. Radiant health.  Bright ideas.  Clarity about that which was hidden.  A boost in personal power.  Self-confidence.  Warmth or warm places.

Best for:  An excellent day for social approval, children’s parties/events, any out­door celebration, especially weddings.  Joyful church services.   Short trips. Rejuvenation.  A day for child-like happiness and banish­ing negativ­ity or sadness.  The beach or picnics.  Promotions for health or well-being.  Starting a health/ fitness plan or a holiday.

 MONDAY  - The Moon

Named after the Moon which waxes and wanes – moves the tides – and reflects light.

Rune:  LAGUZ   (Lagooz)  WATER  stands for:

Rain, a River, a Lake or the Sea.  The ebb and flow (or tides) of feelings.  (The Moon.)  Journeys on or over water.  A renewal of heart or the land (rain).   Being fluid, adaptable or intuitive. Seeking true value or real meaning.

Best for:  A day of reflection, quiet achievement, or talking to friends and relat­ives. Counselling, spiritual readings. Keeping  journals/diaries.  Recording dreams. Writing. Studying­. Yoga, massage, healing.  Quality time with family.  A quiet evening at home.  Sailing or boating on calm waters.  Swimming.  Fishing.  Walks by water.  Working quietly.

 TUESDAY - Mars

Tyr’s day.  Or Teiwaz, the God or Archetype of the Warrior or Spiritual warrior

 who made great sacrifices for others.

Rune:  TEIWAZ   (Ty-warz)  SACRIFICE stands for:

An Arrow.  The Oak.  Leadership or mastery.  Devotion to a cause.  Justice with social, political, business, military, police or legal issues.  Yet this will require a sacrifice or self-conquest.  Heroism, courage, calculated risk.  Facing fears.

Best for:  An excellent day for ­­promotion of worthy causes, fund-raising, or pol­itical/community campaigns.  Best day for resolving justice or legal issues.  Hum­an­itarian projects.  Conflict resolution.  The military.  Activ­ities that require self-mastery.  Sport.   Parades.

 WEDNESDAY - Mercury

Woden’s day.  Or Odin, the God or Archetype of the Wise Eld­er.  Like Gandalf in Lord of the Rings, Odin wandered the land dispensing wisdom, using a staff of transformation.

Rune:  ANSUZ   (Arnsooz) MESSAGES  stands for:

The Staff of Odin that links Heaven and Earth.  Spiritual mess­ages that impart blessings.  Com­mun­ication with an element of surprise or a powerful effect.  Inspirational music.  Chance meet­ings that inspire, or unique magical solutions.  Information that transforms beliefs.

Best for:  The best day for communication, regular meetings, advertising, ­media announcements, lectures or interviews.  Excellent for classes, work-shops and seminars.  Telephone calls or news can change thinking.  Unconventional ideas are fav­oured.  Poetry, film or music with a unique message.  Inter­net promotions.  Radio or television.  Has to be a focus on accuracy and truth.

 THURSDAY - Jupiter

Thor’s day.  Thor, like Zeus and Jehovah, symbolized awe­some power (like lightning),

great influence, expansion, victory over ­opposition.­

Rune:  EHWAZ - MOVEMENT, ENERGY  stands for:

The horse.  Progress or energetic drive.  Will-power and the confidence to undertake a journey or to expand.  Facing fears and going ahead.  Motivation. A new vehicle for self-expression.  Increasing prestige, influence or recognition.

Best for:  A good day for declaring needs, plans, or political moves. Assert­iveness.  A time for dynamic energy, especially to handle people or to triumph over odds.  A day to begin long journeys or­ drive/ trav­el.  Anything to do with horses or transport.  Work on major projects, or expanding business horizons.  Creative or innovative pursuits.

 FRIDAY - Venus

Freya’s day.  Or Frigg, wife of Odin, the Goddess or Archetype of Relationship or Unity.

Rune:  GEBO   (Geh-bo) A GIFT  (or kiss)  stands for:

Partnership, giving and receiving, mutual benefit. A loving relationship or a business offer secured by the giving of a special gift.  A union based on shared respect. Mutual obligation.

Best for:  The best day for dating, meeting others, romantic dinners, or cement­ing business partnerships.  A good day for engagement parties, business social events, surprise parties or unexpected gifts.  A great time for anniversaries or birth­day outings. An art exhibition opening.   Favourable for beauty, decor­ating, jewellery, artistry, craft, or clothing.

 SATURDAY - Saturn

Saturn’s Day.  This stands for self-discipline, duty, respons­ib­ility and karmic obligation.

Tarot Link – Hierophant.

Rune:   JERA   (Jehra) THE HARVEST  stands for:

Guaranteed success when the work is done well.  Harvest Festivals.  Cycles of planting and reaping what is sown.  Rewards when excellence is the goal.  Estab­lishing­­ a secure framework for fut­ure prosperity.  A serious commit­ment to long-term growth.  Gradual mastery.  Staying power.

Best for:   A day of rewards for hard work (Saturn). Yet in our society it is often the busiest.  Hebrew Sabbath.  (God rested on the seventh day.)  A formal wedding.  Even­ts may have a solemn or serious tone.  Work or duties may be taxing, but can consoli­date long-term gain. Rituals or trad­itional cere­mon­ies.  Import­ant anniv­ersaries. A Grad­uation dinner. Harvest celebrations. 

This is a simple and fun chart, yet it clearly illustrates the universal nature of archetypal symbols (in Tarot, Runes and Astrology) which transcend time, place, race and history. 

By ascertaining the day you were born (via a calendar for that year on the Internet) you may like to use the applicable symbols, in jewellery, art, etc.
